Upward Facing Dog - Urdva Mukha Svanasana
Upward Dog is great physical training for many parts of the
surf session. Front paddling out over small waves, to preparing
to stand up from prone position, you will find yourself using up-dog
frequently. Find a firm place in the sand for this
pose. Lift the heart and engage the spine into a vibrant
backward bend. Arms are dynamically straight and the weight of
the body is on the palms and the tops of the feet. Feel the sand
supporting you. Thighs and hips are engaged and lifting
off of the floor. Gaze towards the sunny sky and let your
shoulders soften down the back. Allow plenty of space between
your ears and your shoulders.
