Yoga for the Surfer

Spinal Twist - Ardha Matsyandrasana
Also known as The “Lord Of The Fishes” Pose,
this spinal twist helps to invigorate and awaken spinal
energy, releasing tension in the hips. Bend your left foot
in, near your right hip. Cross the right foot over the left knee.
Inhale deeply and revolve the chest and torsop mindfully to the right
as you exhale. Cross the left elbow over the right knee – or hug the
right knee. If it is comfortable for your neck, gaze over the right
shoulder. Use each inhale as an opportunity to lengthen the spine
and each exhale as an opportunity to deepen the twist gently. Enjoy
the soft sand supporting you as you take 5-10 deep breaths through the
nose. Release gently on an exhale and repeat on the opposite side.
